The Bhakti Series

We love God but is it possible to fall in love with God?

Starting a new series about Meera Bai, the greatest devotee of Lord Krishna who did not only worshipped him but was also in love with him. Her songs of love and devotion are still sung today by millions of devotees of Krishna and also by Indian Classical singers. First published on 30th August, Janmashtmi, the birthday of Lord Krishna.

Huge thanks to Shreya Shruti for gracefully posing for the series. She has been a big inspiration to start and execute the series. You can visit her Instagram _shreya.shruti_

"मेरे तो गिरधर गोपाल दूसरो न कोई"

He is my solace, He is my support. He is my answer, He is my destiny. He is my friend, He is divine. He is infinite. I leave my everything behind for him. I wish no riches, I wish no worldly possessions. There is no other for me, it's only him. All I wish is his acceptance.

"नेह की डोरी तुम संग जोरी

हमसे तो नहीं जावेगी तोड़ी

हे मुरली धर कृष्ण मुरारी

तनिक ना आवे चैन"

They have sent me a bowl of poison saying it is nothing but nectar. I won't hesitate to drink for I know you won't let anything happen to me. They will never understand my devotion to you. They think it's a mere facade. Even if I die, I'll die with your name on my lips.

पायो जी मैंने राम रतन धन पायो..

वस्तु अमोलिक दी मेरे सतगुरु किरपा करि अपनायो।

I have found, yes, I have found the wealth of the Divine Name’s gem.

My true guru gave me a priceless thing.

With his grace, I accepted it.

I found the capital of my several births;

I have lost the whole rest of the world.

No one can spend it, no one can steal it.

Day by day it increases one and a quarter times.

On the boat of truth, the boatman was my true guru.

I came across the ocean of existence.

Mira’s Lord is the Mountain-Holder,

the suave lover, of whom I merrily, merrily sing.

My life is empty without you my dear lord Krishna!

I shall gift this body, this mind, every other thing I possess, to anyone who helps me meet my lord. I wander from place to place in the form of Saint, all in the hope of seeing you anywhere for just once.

My soul is empty without you.

Enough time has passed by, but my Hari has not come yet!

Dreaming to see you, I have now grown old.

Mira's lord, when will you meet her?

I have given up all worldly pleasures just to meet you.

There is no greater joy than finding myself one with the divine. The complete surrender. I feel the flow of joy running through my body. I have given up control over my senses. I feel nothing; no pain, no worries. My senses are fading away. I go into trance. The further away I am from the world, I closer I feel to you.
